PMD Fraud Hurt Me Real Bad
As a woman who wanted to own her own business I can tell you that I wish this site and blog were running 6 years ago. I believed the lies PMD Furniture Direct told me when I applied for a job that could lead to someone owning the location they said they were opening in California. I believed Joe Armetta, Jeff Hosking, Bert, Jerry Williams, and the others who interviewed me. I didn't make it a year before I was almost bankrupt with no help. After I closed my business PMD came after me for the balance on my $30,000 license fee even though they knew I had failed and lost my life savings and that I was in real trouble. It has taken me 5 years to just get back on my feet and now I have come to find these you know what's were lying and committing fraud all along. Can I still get justice or at least get my $30,000 back? I lost a lot more than that but now I know their whole story was a lie.

I believe PMD Furniture Direct commited Fraud
PMD has now had numerous lawsuits but in 2011 two were brought to light. In one case filed in Franklin County Ohio the company and its owner Jeff Hosking & CMO Joe Armetta lost a fraud and breach of contract case. The other case filed against them by more than 20 of their dealers/franchisees was settled by the company shortly after losing the first fraud trial. PMD chose to settle the matter out of court. I believe PMD Furniture committed fraud against me as well as many others when they were selling the business opportunity. Given the recent court cases which are public records anyone can see by going to the Franklin County Ohio Clerk of Court site and doing an online search for cases involving PMD Furniture Direct and Power Marketing Direct. People can see the Dealers Association case as well as others like Carleton Andrew versus Power Marketing Direct & PMD Furniture Direct, Inc. I lost a lot of money (tens of thousands of dollars) investing in this and so did a lot of others. Consumers should be very cautious about opportunities or products sold by companies or individuals found to have committed fraud as it is very serious. When companies start losing those type of cases and settling them it usually doesn't point to their honesty or integrity.

Royal Heritage Retailer Named “Retailer of the Yearâ€
Twice a year, in January and August, the Tupelo Furniture Market awards its "Furniture Retailer of the Year" award to the top furniture retailer. This event, which is hosted in Tupelo, Mississippi, brings together an average of 35,000 retail furniture buyers from all 50 states and 38 foreign countries. This year the award went to PMD Furniture Direct, the exclusive provider of Royal Heritage Home Furnishings®. "PMD has been showing incredible results and has supported the Tupelo market for over ten years now. We're very proud that we are the recipients of the award," said Joe Armetta, Chief Marketing Officer for PMD Furniture Direct. In today's economy, being able to say we are the top "Furniture Retailer of the Year" is a highlight that we do not take for granted. Regardless of the state of the economy, our stellar service to our dealers and franchisees will never diminish. PMD Furniture Direct takes great pride in our partnerships and relationships with others in the furniture retail industry and will work harder to show our appreciation for this award. "We're thrilled to have been selected for this award, which is truly a celebrated achievement for a company as young as ours," said Armetta. "We're changing with the times, our affiliate PMD Furniture Direct, Inc. is offering a franchising model to take advantage of the endless opportunities we see in the future for the company. It's great to be recognized for our efforts." Congratulations are in order for everyone in the PMD family for making this win possible. Keep up the hard work!

Judge for Yourself – In a Good Way!
Periodically, you will see a lone unsuccessful, disgruntled ex-dealer childishly speaking of lawsuits, bad people, mysterious mark-up, etc… Of course, this person masquerades as an ex-dealer, current dealer, manager, top dealer, etc… All of the post are from one person and one IP address. Everyone at PMD knows who this person is, they were negative while a dealer and negative now as you would expect. Highly successful people don't follow that path. As you can see, all the PMD Furniture accolades, information and accomplishments tell a different and true story. Periodically, you will see a lone unsuccessful, disgruntled ex-dealer childishly speaking of lawsuits, bad people, mysterious mark-up, etc…

Joe Armetta and Royal Heritage I recently heard a recorded conference call. The topic FA. Joe Armetta was the speaker. I have never heard someone talk so much about nothing. It was a painful 60 min. recording. Joe and Jeff please note I am a Top Ten Dealer. I am very busy. I don't have time to listen to Mr. Royal Heritage Joe Armetta run on at the mouth. What ever Joe Armetta is selling I'm not buying. I've been reading these posts. I know some of the people who are doing the posting. Many of them are top 20 dealers. For the most part everyone agrees with the majority of the posts. They are very factual and reflect peoples actual feelings. The facts are undeniable and the numbers do not lie. Someone at PMD needs to give the dealer base an explanation for PMD's attrition problems. This explanation should include a remedy. Everything else is just talk.

PMD Management
Armetta a good leader and motivator? Who are you kidding? Now I have heard everything! Joe Armetta is a good leader and motivator? I'm busy wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard. Armetta doesn't even have a clue how to be a good leader. His management style is by intimidation, a tactic that has cost PMD too many good dealers in the past. He's hot headed and egotistical, two traits that you will never find in a good leader. A good leader and motivator knows how to pump people up, not threaten them. This man has stood at the podium and told us that we can all very easily be replaced OR at the very least, if we don't do our jobs to their satisfaction, that they'll put a dealer around the corner from us and compete directly with us. We're supposed to sign a document that allows them to do that to us? Give me a break! I'm so sick of the lies, deceit, and greediness! It's always been said what comes around goes around, and PMD is about to get what's coming to them. It's long overdue. The question is will we all survive the enormous markups long enough to see it.

The mortgage business is failing, make yourself successful with PMD Furniture Direct.
The trigger was a case of mild career dissatisfaction. I had an increasing sphere of responsibilities in my work, a boss that I respected and with whom I enjoyed working, and a team of folks working for me that were bright, capable, and committed. I was being asked to take one for the team however, and a change in my compensation structure made it highly unlikely that I would be able to continue the upward progression in my personal income to which I had grown accustomed. It was against this backdrop that my wife Sherrill and I began to contemplate what we wanted in a next phase of my career and our lives. I was drawn toward an opportunity to, pardon the cliché, be in business for myself, but not by myself. We also wanted to move to a smaller city in a cooler climate, with a moderate cost of living. Through research into franchise business opportunities I was concerned about things like high start-up capital requirements, a desire to not have to manage a cadre of part-time teenagers, and I questioned whether I would derive career satisfaction out of assembling submarine sandwiches, pizzas, or cherry limeades seven days a week. Then I stumbled across the PMD opportunity. I opened my Clearance Center in September of 2007. As a PMD dealer I’ve learned to wear many hats: Finance, Marketing & Advertising, Sales, Warehouse Operations, and Human Resources. As the president of a corporation with 1 employee (though Sherrill and my son Blake have been very helpful), I’ve had to do it all. That however is a bit misleading, which goes back to that "for your self but not by yourself" notion. Training systems, sales scripts, a powerful product merchandising distribution system, home office support, technologies, and a team of trainers/mentors/advisors, all of whom are or have been successful dealers themselves, are all a part of the PMD dealer’s life. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take personal responsibility for my success, but doing so with the knowledge that there is a team of committed PMD leadership team members that are stakeholders in my success. During the course of the past year, I’ve had 11 opportunities to come together with other dealers through national conferences, home office training events, visits to experienced dealers’ clearance centers, and trainer/advisor visits to my own location. This list doesn’t even account for conference calls and 1-on-1 calls with trainers/advisors that occur during a dealer’s 1st year. Each of these events are instructive, informative, motivational, and quite simply, they’re fun. I look forward to adding to this list some of the incentive trips that are made available to successful dealers and leaders within PMD. Going forward, I’ve targeted a 50% growth rate in income as my major goal for year’s 2 and 3 and I intend to qualify for the PMD President’s Club trip every year going forward. As long as I’m blessed with good health, I’m confident that these things will happen. Sincerely, Greg from Cedar Rapids

PMD is a FRAUD
You can go to google.com and see for yourselves. Their are numerous articles written by serveral local newspapers throughout the country on how PMD is fraudulantly advertising a mattress or furniture that they claim to have in stock and tell you their in stock but when you get their, all of a sudden their all sold out. HMMMMM. Their has also been several incidents that the actual news reporters with cameras has caught them in their bait and switch tactics. Seems like the only people talking possitive about them are only their own dealers. It's obvious that they have no choice but the speak highly about them. Then ask why are their so much of a turn around with their so call dealer base. All the previous dealers seem like they have true comments about PMD and how they got scammed and ripped off. You can buy the exact same items from other local stores such as Value City Furniture and even Big Lots for less then what the so call PMD dealer can even offer. It is the EXACT same product! BEWARE and you can actually file a complaint with your local Attorney Gernerals Office and see how many violations PMD actually has with your local state. Their phony phone script speaks for itself. I helping a personal friend of mine get rid of his close out and over stock mattresses and furniture. LMAO. Again, they are far from being any over stock or close outs. A complete LIE from the very start. Also like the other individual stated, go to Franklin co. Court House and you can pull all the actual files of PMD with their Law Suites that has been going on for years and see for yourself. The truth will set you free. Funny how they lost most of their suites against their own so call dealer base. If this was such a great company, then why would all the dealers leave them or fail. Where is the great dealer support? If Jeff (Rip You Off) Hoskins is not benefiting, then you will not either.

The Big Lie
I have done quite a bit of research on this company, having talked to dealers and customers and have come to these basic conclusions. PMD lies to their customers and to their dealers. If you are considering buying a Royal Heritage product, just know that you could get a better deal from a large retailer if you haggle on price, and if there is a problem with the product at least you feel comfortable that the retail chain will be around in 30 days. With only about 10 % of PMD dealers lasting more than 2 years, the warranty on your purchase is a *** shoot. As for becoming a dealer, what I have learned is that there is over a 50% turnover in dealers every 12-16 months, with the average failed dealer losing over $100,000. Other dealers limp along for 2-3 years making a marginal income ($20,000 to $40,000) while working 70 hours a week. So if you have $100,000 to gamble, you would probably have a better chance of making money in Vegas than opening a dealership. Sorry if I spoiled your American Dream.

Current PMD Dealer (non-Mgmt) thankful for the blessing/opportunity
I became a PMD dealer approximately 1 year ago, I'm not a member of the organization's mgmt. team and was not encouraged by anyone in PMD to post this review. I stumbled across this site accidentally when Googling PMD to see what was out there. As I've read some of the critical reviews on this site, I've formed the impression that there is a small cadre of failed dealers who have adopted the victimization mentality that is seemingly ubiquitous in our culture. In my prior career one of my core responsibilities was hiring sales people. Something that I always looked for as a critical red-flag in that hiring process was excuse makers. The best sales people rarely blamed others when they fell short of their goals. They looked inward, determined what they could have done better, made adjustments accordingly, and reached deep down to do what it takes (ethically) to be successful. Poor performers almost always looked externally to find factors besides themselves , e.g., my organization's leadership, that were at the heart of their failings and shortcomings. My experience as a PMD dealer over the past year has been extremely gratifying, fullfilling and profitable. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this game changing organization. My challenge to you, as you read the review of PMD by the small group of former PMD dealers on this site, is to ask yourself what is the rest of the story? What are these failed dealers not saying about the role that they themselves played in their own failure? Losers rarely see the real problem in the looking glass...

PMD = Bait and Switch
Their so call warehouses which all uses the same phony phone script telling you that the mattresses and furniturre are all over stock and closeouts which is a complete lie. They order their items weekly just like any other furniture store in your neighborhood but lures you in with their classified ads on items that don't even exist. Funny how they claim they have 1 or 2 left but when you arrive at their warehouse they are all sold out. HMMMM What a surprise. Then they will upsell you on 3-10 times the price of a different item rather then the item you called in on. Notice that even on ads on the internet, their leader ad will never have a picture of the actual item and they are extremely reluctant on being honest with you or answering a irect question about themselves and the actual product. They also private label their items as Royal Heritage which that actual so call name brand does not even exist. BEWARE of this fraud and scam. true bait and switch tactics.

My experience with PMD...READ THIS!
After 10 plus years with 2 large companies -Nautilus (Bowflex Home Fitness Equipment) and Pitney Bowes -I decided there must be something more. It doesn’t take long to figure out a great job title doesn’t necessarily mean happiness and a great income. After seeing how happy and successful my brother was with PMD in Southern California, I had to see this opportunity first hand. Three years later, I am my own boss with a successful business I enjoy with my wife. We have financial freedom and freedom to be able to do what we want when we want. That is the most valuable aspect of being in business for yourself. Not to mention, we wouldn’t be near as successful without the substantial support PMD has given us. The support we have received combined with the ease of the business model they have developed has been beyond valuable. I am so glad we are part of the PMD experience. Dennis of Portland, Oregon

My experience.
Craig and Chris P. Richmond, Virginia We joined the PMD family 4 years ago and have never looked back! After years of working 70+hours a week, spending most of our time overnight and on the road, PMD gave us an opportunity that we couldn’t turn down. Leaving 6 figure income jobs, we have more than replaced our income and are well on our way to amassing a net worth that will allow us to retire in comfort. Additionally, we set our own schedule, travel to exotic locations with PMD and control our own destiny. The support and training PMD offers to new dealers is extensive. It is not a surprise that we were profitable from our first week in the business!

My 2 cents worth.
How rewarding can one company be? San Francisco, Las Vegas, Maui, St. Martin, St. Thomas, Cabo San Lucas, Aruba, Cancun, St. Kitts -just a few places I have been since I have been a dealer with PMD. Every trip has been provided by PMD just for doing my job. I was trained, given a program to follow, and provided every opportunity to succeed in my marketplace. Not only have the results been great financial rewards for my family, but also, an unbelievable learning experience I can take with me in all of my future business experiences. PMD paved a clear path for my success and all I had to do was follow. Jason from Denver

My Luck with PMD Furniture
I have been self-employed for about 18 years and have tried several different opportunities before finding PMD Furniture Direct. I even worked with a previous competitor of PMD Furniture. The other company made lots of promises about training and what the opportunity would offer. But, after working with them for nine months, I had received no real training and wasn’t making any real money. Now, I have been with PMD Furniture for four years and the opportunity has been everything that I hoped that it would be. I was looking for an opportunity when I started with PMD Furniture -an opportunity to build a business and build substantial wealth. They have a system that works, you just have to work hard and work the system. Tim B. of Oregon
